Reply Child Safety Policy
Draft pending legal review. Every item marked “to be confirmed” will be settled before this policy is published as final. If this translation differs from the Korean version, the Korean version applies.
Reply has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
This policy can be read without logging in, and it is also linked from the Account screen in the app.
1. What is prohibited
The following are prohibited in any form, and we act on every confirmed case without exception:
- creating, sharing, requesting or pointing to child sexual abuse material;
- content that sexualises minors or treats them as sexual objects;
- grooming: building trust with a minor in order to approach them for sexual purposes;
- sexual extortion, for example threats involving intimate images;
- trying to meet minors, or trafficking or procuring minors;
- content that praises or encourages any of the above.
2. How the app prevents harm
- Adults only: only people aged 19 or older can sign up, in every country. Outside Korea we confirm you are 19 or older from Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in and a date of birth entered at sign-up; dates under 19 are refused. In Korea we confirm you are 19 or older by PortOne identity verification. One Apple or Google account (or identity) may have one Reply account, and a deleted or restricted one cannot create a new account. If you cannot sign up with the date of birth you first entered, you cannot sign up again with the same account until the date that date of birth would make you old enough; and if an age range that Apple or Google shares on iPhone (iOS 26 or later) or Android is under 19, sign-up is refused on the same basis.
- Suspected minors: a date of birth entered at sign-up is a declaration, not proof. If a report or our review shows that a user was under the sign-up age when the account was created, we restrict and close the account. Procedure to be confirmed
- Text only: there is no way to send photos, videos or files.
- Screening before delivery: letters, replies, messages, and pen names and intros are checked before they are sent. Contact details, messenger IDs and links are blocked automatically, and AI screening rejects content that sexualises minors or suggests meeting a minor. If screening is unavailable, nothing is sent.
- Mutual choice before any conversation: a reply does not open a conversation. A conversation opens only when the letter’s author accepts the reply.
3. How to report in the app
- On any letter, reply, message or pen-name card, tap “Report” and choose Child safety as the reason. Long-press a message to report it.
- Reporting also blocks the person by default. A reported letter is taken off every user’s shore at once, and a reported reply can no longer become a conversation.
- We keep a copy of the reported content as it was at the time of the report. The original text is kept even if the sender recalls the message.
- Outside the app, anyone, including people without an account, can report to hello@darak.studio.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police first (112 in Korea) or your local emergency services.
4. How reports are handled
- Child safety reports reach our team as urgent alerts and are reviewed before other reports. Review frequency and staffing to be confirmed
- If two or more different users report the same account for child safety or threats, the account is restricted automatically, even before our review. A restricted account’s letters on the shore and its pending replies are hidden from other users, and no one can exchange letters or messages with it.
- When we confirm a violation, we remove or hide the content and suspend the account. The same Apple or Google account, or identity, cannot create a new account.
- When we become aware of CSAM or child sexual abuse or exploitation, we preserve the evidence, report it to law enforcement and other relevant authorities as required by applicable law, and cooperate with investigations. We remove the material and report it according to the applicable law. In Korea we report through the police cyber crime reporting system (경찰청 사이버범죄 신고시스템, https://ecrm.police.go.kr), and internationally through the NCMEC CyberTipline (https://report.cybertip.org).
5. Compliance with the law
Reply complies with applicable child safety laws, including the laws of the Republic of Korea and of the countries where Reply is available. Applicable laws and specific reporting duties in each country: to be confirmed by legal review
6. Child safety point of contact
Contact person: Darak Studio Co., Ltd. name to be confirmed
Email: hello@darak.studio
